Inertia Memoriae

Eros Gaspardo, Michele Virgili

The short film analyzes several key monuments in Italian history. The narrative unfolds on a metaphorical and semiotic level, questioning the historical, social, and formal functions of the monument. A double screen, acting like an optical device that constantly compares, verifies, affirms, or contradicts, displays the monuments as they reemerge from the past—through photos and footage from the Archivio Lucee – while simultaneously documenting their present-day configuration.
